new yorker cartoon

for the work kris kringle, someone got me a few magazines (including the most recent new yorker). one cartoon made me laugh: country mouse squashed while savvy city mouse is fine. as i’m about to wander off to the ‘country’, i hope i dont have the same experience.

i am drooling over the iphone. although i am concerned about the whole touch screen thing. how many times have i not locked my phone & somehow ended up hitting it (while in bag) and dialing the first person in my contacts ????? um, enough times that i now have a contact called ‘a’ that doesnt have a phone number programmed into.

but man is it hot.

more on the bush fires

a couple weeks ago i mentioned the bushfires in country victoria. now here’s an amazing photo. the bigger island at the v bottom is tassie, and u can see the huge plume of smoke (nope, not clouds apparently) from the fires. wow.

fyi, i found this on behind the news blog which is written by a camera person. he has some amazing bushfire pix on his site.

emails & cool speed dating

last august i read GTD (getting things done) and one of my goals was to organise my inbox. i realised the whole categorisation of emails into different folders wasn’t going to work for me b/c i need to have things in front of me – but i did try to do the ‘finish it in 2 min & get it out of the inbox’ ideas. it worked for a bit. i cleaned the inbox out from some insane number to something like 50. i’ve just realised i’m back up to 306. argh.
