who has checked out bamn!? it looks amazing and bizarre.

37 st marks? according to the map, it’s the north side. what used to be there? is this the old ‘community ctr’ bldg? or (gasp) coney island high?

roses, xmas, the weather and whatever else

it’s spring. tonite we even turn the clocks forward an hour. but damn is it cold! last nite on the way home it was pretty windy & cold. turns out over nite it rained and those up in the hills got snow (not melb proper cause it never snows here but the areas where you’d get snow in the winter). it was sunny today but the high was in the 50s. going to drop down to the low 40s tonite.

which massively sucks BUT considering that last week they put the xmas tree up in the town square and all the shops have put out their decorations, maybe it’s not too bad. :)

check out this weird green rose. saw it on the gardening show this evening while i was lying on the couch doing nothing much. very funky looking and some of the sites i found say it has a peppery smell.

i love the internet

i adore the internet. right now it’s almost 11pm in melbourne. in nyc it’s almost 9am. and in a few minutes a friend of mine is going to be co-hosting the morning jazz show on WBGO.

the internet is great b/c i’m listening to the station, steaming in, across a multitude of oceans and land mass to hear him be promo’d twice so far. how fucking cool.

oh, and to make this story even cooler – this was an anniversary present from his wife. u can sponsor the station enough that you can be a guest dj. that is such an amazing powerful idea.

so if you’re near nyc, tune in. if you’re not check out WBGO. david is on btwn 9-10a this morning (tuesday). kick some ass david!!!

geography lesson

saw this quote on ben’s casnocha’s blog that made me laugh (at its trueness, not that it’s ha ha funny)

“War is God’s way of teaching Americans geography.” -Ambrose Bierce

i did a quick search & didn’t find the year he said/wrote that but considering he was born in 1842 and died in 1914 (or rather assumed dead 1914. he disappeared), we can assume it’s roughly 100 years old.

and that makes it even more sad.
