are we longing to be 5 again?

when kim & i went to big day out a few months ago, we noticed something slightly weird about some of the bands. they had a very sesame street, let’s all hold hands & sing along and it will all be fine feel. the magic numbers could have had cookie monster up there for all i know. and go team was right out of ‘we’re 15 and want to be cheerleaders!’ i made a smart ass remark about how maybe all americans (and brits as i think magic numbers is based there) have reverted to being 5 b/c it lets them feel like the world will be ok even though the world is full of shit like global warming & george & the war & bad job situations and terrorism and ……

seems maybe i’m right. salon has this article up (which i havent read beyond the blurb):

Childhood games like tag, dodgeball and rock paper scissors are being reclaimed by adults. Is there some deep societal reason why people are returning to kiddie fun?

hmmm……
