for those in the news industry

ran across this article from usa today about the newspapers in today’s tech world. don’t have time to comment since i’m prepping for an interview this afternoon & revising the resume for a different gig i’m applying to but i thought the numbers were interesting.

and i can’t remember if i’ve posted here but lately i’ve been doing lots of blog reading to catch up on what i’ve missed over the last few years while i’ve been deep into the mba (in terms of net, tech , hot & cool stuff). here i’ve been thinking that i’ve probably missed a ton & even though i am in AU which is typically behind the states in terms of using tech, i’d still be so out of the game. i think that opinion has been wrong from what i’m reading. i’m finding it pretty easy to jump back into this because i haven’t seen a hell of a lot of changes. there seems to be a lot of recycling here (take for example the whole online community aspect being renamed as social design or social networking but not a hell of a lot of changes taking place).

this article about the news industry doesn’t seem to have many ground breaking ideas (and yes, true, it’s a conservative industry) but it does mention several things that i worked on prior to 2000 while at the journal. now THAT surprises me.

ok. back to getting up to speed on voip. :)

ok, after i posted that & continued to read my blogs, i found an article from feb wired about a vc guy who went back over old biz plans to find new companies to invest in. or perhaps not companies but ideas that were before their time.

btw, the article mentions zaplet which was one of my favs!!! apparently time bridge is the new firm (w VC) recycling this idea. i’ll have to check it later.
